Third Strike by Zoe Sharp

This novel continues the escapades of Charlie Fox aka Charlotte.. She is joined by her compatriot Sean on a path of subterfuge, mystery and violence. Charlie’s infamous surgeon father and her refined mother are also involved. They are brought in through the mysterious death of a young friend who has been receiving drug treatments as part of an experimental treatment program.

This is a very fast-paced scenario. This reader was so caught up in the action parts of the story, she had to put the book down, take a breath before continuing on. This is the third book in this series about Charlie Fox, professional bodyguard. Previous books include First Drop and Second Shot.

And so I went back and read her first two books in the series and I was not disappointed. This author’s descriptions are so riveting you almost feel as if you are watching a movie instead of reading a book. If you enjoy the pace of the television program “24”, you will undoubtedly enjoy this author’s bodyguard books.

A good read.

True Colors by Kristin Hannah

This is a title all about sibling rivalry. Aurora, Vivi and Winona are sisters. Each has accomplished success in its varying forms in their lives. Vivi manages the family ranch and does it very well. Winona had achieved a modicum of success in the legal field while Aurora is the very fit mother of twins. A tragedy befalls one of the sisters and the other sisters are in conflict whether to support or disengage.

Kristin Hannah writes marvelous novels that explore the boundless territory of women’s lives. This latest entry will draw you into the lives of three sisters. It will not disappoint you.

The Bodies Left Behind by Jeffery Deaver

An isolated vacation home in Wisconsin is the setting for the latest thriller from this author. An off-duty policewoman is called to the scene of a grizzly double-homicide.
She escapes the throes of the intruders only to find herself on the run through rock-strewn, thick forests and brush of a nearby state park. What follows is a cat-and-mouse game, perpetuated by unusual happenstances.

This thriller has more twists and turns than Lombard Street in San Francisco. It will keep you reading on until the very end when all the threads are tied up nicely.

A great read, especially if watching re-runs of Law and Order and CSI are getting monotonous.

Three weeks to say goodbye by C.J. Box

A young couple has adopted a baby girl after years of trying to conceive. The child has been in the family for 9 months. A phone call from the adoption agency informs the couple that the biological father of the infant failed to sign away his parental rights.
The biological grandfather advises the couple that they have “three weeks to say goodbye” and then the infant will be taken from them.

I have to say I really like this author. He pulls me in from the first chapter and motivates me to read, read, and read until the end. There are a variety of characters in this story and each plays an important part. It’s as if the reader is viewing the story on a screen and is privy to everyone’s thoughts and actions. AND there is quite a bit of action in this story.

Although I miss Joe Pickett (he’s not in this one), C.J. Box did not let me down. This is a very good read. I think you’ll enjoy it.
