This is Ms. Castillo’s second novel in her series about a female policy chief in Amish Country.

A heinous crime has been committed. Kate Burkholder, police chief is called in to investigate the crime. She notes there are some strange marks at the crime scene. These marks lead to a horrible fact.

Kate calls in her friend, State Agent John Tomasetti to help with the investigation. Together they plod through the clues, including a diary kept by one of the victims.

This was a thriller about a gruesome crime. In all honesty if they ever make this into a movie, I’ll be sitting there with my hand over my eyes.

Live to Tell by Lisa Gardner

This thriller is about three women whose lives intersect in the midst of horrendous crimes. D.D. Warren, veteran police detective, Victoria Oliver, mother of a difficult child and Danielle Burton, children’s psychiatric nurse all have a stake in solving the mystery.

Two entire families are murdered and there appears to be no connection between the two. After careful scrutiny by Detective Warren, the reader is made privy to what ties the two incidents together. It then becomes a race against time before other people are drawn into the fray.

My only complaint about this latest entry by Gardner is that I would have liked more of a story line about D.D. Warren.

Savor the Moment by Norah Roberts

This is the third book in a quartet about four young women who own a wedding planning business in Connecticut called Vows.

Sometimes you just want to read something light. No violence. Nothing that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Just a gentle read. This series of books is just that.

Parker, Emma, Laurel and Mac are childhood friends who started the business together and run it out of a house. The stories take us through the rudiments of planning a wedding including flowers, photography and the cake. Roberts uses terms such as MOB and FOB to draw us all in and we may find ourselves wishing we too, could have a wedding planned by this foursome.

Looking for some beach reading---by all means read this series. By the way, the last book in the quartet, Happy Ever After, will be available in November.
