One Good Dog by Susan Wilson
Yes, this is a dog book.
No, this is not a Bruce Cameron book. However, it is worth the read because instead of dealing with a gentle breed, we see the world through the eyes of a pit-bull. One that has been put in the ring to fight and escapes to eventually find the comfort of a human who is also struggling with life.
Adam has a high-powered job. He is on the brink of offering a new idea to his company. He is under constant stress and this stress erupts into an uncharacteristic display of emotion which results in the loss of his job. He is also brought to court to account for his abusive, physical attack on his secretary. His wife divorces him, taking his assets, except for a credit card and a car. Adam and the dog connect and begin a push and pull relationship.
A well-written account of a dog's life from a different perspective and a man who looses just about everything and manages to pick himself up and move forward.
