An Available Man by Hilma Wolitzer

Edward, a recently widowed science teacher is lonely. He is unaware that his children have placed a personal ad. A raft of letters arrives and Edward begins dating again.

In this latest novel by Ms. Wolitzer, the reader is treated to the precarious love life of a 64 year old male. Her main character is certainly someone we'd like to meet and may even be someone we already know.

A gentle story about the closeness of family and what it takes to begin again after a loss. An old people's love story to be sure but one that gives us all hope that love can come the second or third time around.
