The Secret Between Us by Barbara Delinsky

Imagine a rainy, stormy night. The roads are slick. It is difficult to see and suddenly you hear a thud. You get out of the car and discover that a person has been hit. In an instant you make a quick decision to tell the police that you were driving the vehicle instead of your teenage daughter and so the tangled web begins.

An interesting premise and a good way to begin a story but it is by no means the whole story. This entry is about the relationship between the mother and daughter and how the lie perpetrated by the mother affects the daughter’s life.

Delinsky is probably more well-known by her romantic forays and this entry reminds me of Jodi Picoult or Laura Moriarity. None-the-less it is well-done and worth a read.
