the Light Between Oceans by M.L. Stedman

Tom Sherbourne returns to his homeland after serving on the Western Front.  He accepts a job as a lighthouse keeper on an isolated island.  Tom marries and brings his wife to live with him at the lighthouse.  After a series of unfortunate happenings, Isabel gives up on the hope of ever having children of their own.

Circumstances change dramatically one day when a boat drifts toward shore.  Isabel and Tom harbor a great secret and appear to be content until someone discovers what it is.

This is a novel about the bonds of love and how far a person will go to protect and provide.
