In a Dark, Dark, Wood by Ruth Ware
This title was actually published in 2015 but was recently recommended to me in light of the fact that the author has come out with a new title this year called The Woman in Cabin 10. It was suggested that I get an idea of her writing style before reading the new book.
The main character in this novel is Lee, a reclusive author. Lee opens her e-mail one morning to discover a message from an estranged friend that she hasn't hear from in years. The friend is inviting her to a weekend gathering to be held in a glasshouse. At first reluctant, Lee relents when she views some of the positive responses and agrees to go along with the idea. From the onset of her arrival in the house, Lee feels conflicted and confused but brushes those thoughts away.
Many hours later, Lee wakes up in unfamiliar surroundings and has to come to grips with her past while pursuing answers to what exactly occurred at the weekend gathering.
No doubt someone will pick up the movie rights on this one.
