Secrets of Eden by Chris Bohjalian

The setting is a small town just outside of Burlington, Vermont. A murder-suicide has been committed.
The author presents the crime and then gives a closer examination of several characters presented in the novel. Stephen Drew, Baptist minister who is guilt ridden over his failure to save his parishioner, Catherine Benicat, Deputy State Attorney who forces the reader to take a closer look at the crime and Heather Lauren, author of several books about angels and from whom excerpts from her writings are interspersed throughout the novel.
I happen to love everything this author has written. I’ve never been disappointed by any of his stories. This is one of his best. It was well-written and keeps you guessing until the very end.
